Take Your Mathematical Skills to Oxford with Ellison Scholars

COMAP is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Ellison Scholars, a prestigious program under the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT). This partnership brings exciting opportunities for students involved in COMAP’s mathematical modeling contests, offering a chance to not only showcase their skills but also to join a global mission aimed at tackling some of humanity’s most pressing challenges.

Solving Global Problems with Math

At its core, mathematical modeling has always been about finding solutions to the world’s toughest problems, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with that mission. EIT, in partnership with the University of Oxford, focuses on advancing four critical areas: health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation through artificial intelligence. These areas demand innovative solutions, and math plays a key role in shaping the future of these vital sectors.

What Does This Mean for COMAP Contest Participants?

Students who participate in COMAP’s HiMCM®, MCM®/ICM®, and IM2C® contests and receive an Outstanding designation will have the unique opportunity to connect directly with the Ellison Scholars program. Not only will they be invited to exclusive webinars, but they may also be considered for interviews with the Ellison Scholars team. This is a significant opportunity for students passionate about math, technology, and global innovation. Competing in the MCM/ICM contest sets you apart from other applicants, as EIT recognizes the exceptional talent and problem-solving skills demonstrated by participants in these competitions.

Ellison Scholars Program: What’s In It for You?

The Ellison Scholars program is on the lookout for brilliant students ready to innovate across the fields of math, science, technology, and engineering. Each year, the program awards fully funded scholarships to at least 20 students, providing them with a stipend to work alongside top experts from EIT. Whether you're an undergraduate or graduate student, this could be your gateway to studying at the University of Oxford and contributing to world-changing projects.

Graduate applications for the October 2025 intake are closing soon, with the deadline at the end of September 2024. If you’re an undergraduate student, don't worry—the next round of applications for the October 2026 intake will open next year.
