Producers and consumers of products are interested in knowing how long items will function before failure. Producers need to know the time-to-failure of their products in order to control the manufacture of them. Consumers need to be assured that the products they are purchasing are long-lasting and of high-quality. Life testing is how reliability engineers determine product life.
