Case Studies in Lower-Division Mathematics: A Bibliography and Related Teaching Issues

Recent articles in mathematical journals have reported the integration of industrial case studies within academic mathematics courses, usually at the advanced undergraduate or master's level [59, 60, 611. Not every teacher has the opportunity to participate in such a program, however. As a substitute for such activity, this paper provides a working tool for mathematics teachers: a catalog of some current applications of lower-division mathematics, referenced by an annotated bibliography listing primary sources for these applications. Of course, UMAP Modules are an additional source for such applications.
