Data base or databasen is a term we hear almost daily in business because business is information based. But the term's use is not limited to business; it refers to any type of data belonging to an organization, company, or individual. These types of data can take the form of medical records for an insurance company, airline reservation information, personnel records stored in a locked file cabinet, student records stored in the computer, notes in a salesperson's little black book, or a Chirstmas card list. Data bases like these can be manipulated to provide information about medical histories, passengers on a given flight, employee job skills, grades, sales leads, or mailing lists.
