Geometric Programming (UMAP)
Author: Robert E.D. Woosley
This module presents a simple method of optimization that: 1) tells how much an engineering design would cost before knowing what it looks like; 2) tells the values of the design variables; 3) allows for calculation of the effects of price changes in materials, inflationary efects, or changes in requirements without solving the problem again; 4) once an engineering design with the method has been solved, it never has to be done again; and 5) doesn't need calculus to do the optimization.
