When Hugh Burkhardt visited Teachers College a few years ago, he began his lecture with the following problem: Imagine you have a calculator with the following severely limited capabilities:You may push the "3" and the "4" buttons as often as you like, you may push "multiply" and "subtract", and you may push "=" for the result of a series of those operations. You may not use parentheses. Can you make all positive integers?
